Here is why you should check out ’13 Reasons Why’

I heard very little talk leading up to the debut of Netflix’s new original show, “13 Reasons Why“, which is very typical. Though I was surprised after being four episodes in and didn’t see much talk of the show on social media. “13 Reasons Why” isn’t only an entertaining drama, it has an impactful message that can truly grab the emotions of anyone watching.

It’ll make you want to grab for some napkins as you watch a story unfold that brings teen suicide out of the darkness that we like to keep it in, and into the light where it can feel uncomfortable, but needs to be seen.

The story follows Hannah, played by Katherine Langford, who unfortunately commits suicide before the show begins. Her family and friends are mourning her death, wondering why she would have done such a terrible thing. With no note, her parents, played by Kate Walsh and Brian d’Arcy James, are frantic to find answers and in turn begin blaming those who may or may not have been involved.

While the adults deal with adult things, a set of tapes begin rolling around at school to eleven different people before making their way to our stories leading male, Clay Jensen, played by Dylan Minnette. These tapes are not talked about amongst those who have listened to them because on them, Hannah discusses the thirteen reasons why she took her own life. They are meant to be…
