Here we are, the last film review before the Academy Awards. “Lion” was the ninth film to be nominated as best picture, and I feel like it was a forgotten film as well. Not too many people have really been talking about this movie compared to “Manchester by the Sea” or “La La Land“, which is sad because it’s honestly a great movie.
It’s about a young boy named Saroo, played by Sunny Pawar during his younger years and then Dev Patel as a young adult. Saroo is growing up in India with his older brother, who he adores and closely admires, and his mother and younger sister. The four of them make due with what they can, the two boys and the mother are constantly working in order to provide for everyone. One day Saroo is lost due to falling asleep on a train and in attempt to try and find home he ends up being adopted by an Australian couple, played by David Wenham and Nicole Kidman.
